„Hoffmann’s great voice, which was given additional fullness by the church acoustics, presented itself with great expression. Wittfeld followed with equally successful ornamentation and intonation.“ >Stadtanzeiger Rhein-Erft<

The Ensemble Amouné (Amunet/Goddess of the Air) was founded in 2017 and since then Judith Hoffmann (soprano) and Dirk Wittfeld (trumpet) have performed in various churches with their organists or, on request, with their own organists.

Air is the unifying element of these three instruments.

All three use air in different ways for their sound and musical composition.

The Egyptian goddess of air Amunet/Amounet inspired the name of the ensemble: Amouné

Our programmes consist of original compositions and exciting arrangements for this instrumentation. Instruments are also heard in solo works.
In 2023, four pieces were composed especially for the ensemble by Elmar Lehnen (basilica organist Kevelaer) (Neustart Kultur Stipendium JH).
These pieces were also professionally recorded.

Baroque splendour music

This programme contains many of the most famous pieces for trumpet and soprano, which are often played in arrangements with organ, such as excerpts from the cantata ‘Jauchzet Gott’ by J.S. Bach or Handel’s ‘Let the bright Seraphim’. We have expanded the programme to include beautiful arrangements of duets such as ‘Pur ti miro’ by C. Monteverdi or Purcell’s ‘Sound the trumpet’.

The three instruments also perform solo works. The soprano and trumpet are accompanied by the organ.

We are constantly expanding our repertoire.

We are happy to respond to individual programme requests.

Have we aroused your interest?
Further information about the programme is available on request.

It is only natural that four pieces composed especially for this line-up – settings of poems on the theme of air/wind – will form the centrepiece of the new programme in 2023.

Prominent poets such as J. von Eichendorff and Chr. Morgenstern, among others, are the inspiration for a firework display of ‘airy’ sounds with a wide range of emotions and ways of developing sound.

Sometimes gently flowing, sometimes wildly effervescent, the leaves of the trees tremble and hearts swarm together in the east wind.

In this programme, Judith Hoffmann (soprano), Dirk Wittfeld (trumpet) and Elmar Lehnen (Kevelaer Basilica organist, organ) combine the familiar with the new and the emerging.

Works such as ‘Let the bright Seraphim’ by G.F. Händel will be heard alongside four new compositions by Elmar Lehnen (supported by a grant from NEUSTART KULTUR 2023) framed by solo organ improvisations on recited poems on the theme of air/wind.

In this varied programme, the Ensemble Amouné will perform original compositions as well as exciting arrangements from C. Monteverdi, G.F. Händel and L.Vierne to Elmar Lehnen.

If you are interested, we will be happy to send you the exact programme.

We are happy to play our programme with the respective organists on site or come to you with one of our organists.

We are currently playing our programme ‘Still in Air’ together with the basilica organist from Kevelaer, Elmar Lehnen.
